A vantagem de um sapato plano é que não reproduz assimetrias na planta do pé no plano sagital que teriam que ser compensadas pelas articulações acima (tíbio-társica, joelhos, bacia, ombar, dorsal, cervical e cranianas). A hipercifose (aumento da curvatura) dorsal poderá ser reduzida com a utilização deste tipo de calçado, pois aumentam a extensão do corpo, conforme referem os estudos científicos para corrida e marcha.
